Through in-school programs, classroom resources, and family literacy support, we combine storytelling, creativity, comfort, connection, and hands-on participation to help children build positive relationships with books.
Everything we create has one purpose: to make reading practice meaningful, engaging, and easier to continue at school and at home.

Our programs are designed to support school literacy goals while fitting naturally into the school day.

Our Impact
Since 2015, Connection to Creativity has partnered with schools, families, and community organizations to create meaningful literacy experiences for young readers.
As a BOCES-approved and NYC DOE-approved vendor, we work alongside educators to strengthen the literacy instruction and routines already taking place in their classrooms. Our programs provide engaging, ready-to-use support that encourages student participation, builds reading confidence, and helps extend literacy from the classroom into the home.
We understand that teachers are already doing important work. Our role is to support that work, engage children in new ways, and help schools strengthen the connection among students, educators, and families.
Connection to Creativity began with one little boy, my son, Aliko.
As a mother and former librarian, I experienced firsthand the challenges that can arise when a child has difficulty connecting with reading. Like many parents, I searched for ways to make reading more engaging, meaningful, and enjoyable. I tried different approaches, celebrated the small victories, and learned that every child develops a connection with literacy in their own way.
That journey changed me.
It inspired me to combine storytelling, music, movement, imagination, and hands-on learning to create literacy experiences that help children participate, build confidence, and develop positive connections with books.
As I continued this journey with my younger son, I applied those same principles and watched him develop into a confident reader. His hard work and academic success were recognized when he received a Student Achievement Award for Academics from the City of New York. That experience strengthened my belief that children can thrive when they are given meaningful and engaging opportunities to connect with reading.
Today, Connection to Creativity works alongside schools, educators, and families to support the literacy development already happening in the classroom and help carry that learning beyond the school day.
Every child who confidently opens a book, every classroom filled with excitement during a literacy experience, and every family that creates a new reading memory is part of the legacy that began with Aliko.
That is the heart of Connection to Creativity.
