Cuddle & Read is an interactive in-school literacy experience that helps children build reading confidence, strengthen literacy engagement, and develop positive reading habits that continue beyond the school day.
At the heart of the experience is the Reading Pal a comforting reading companion that helps children feel secure, participate more confidently, and build positive connections with reading at school and at home.
Designed for
Early Learners
and Growing Readers
Cuddle & Read serves Early Learners (3–6 years old) and Growing Readers (7–8 years old). Storybooks and literacy activities are selected and adapted to support the ages and developmental needs of the students participating.

How the In-School Literacy Experience Works
Welcome & Engage
Children begin with an age-appropriate Little Learning Bus literacy activity that encourages participation and prepares them for the experience.
Share the Story
Children participate in an interactive storybook experience connected to their age group. Every child receives a copy of the featured storybook to take home.
Choose a Reading Pal
Each child selects a Reading Pal that becomes a comforting reading companion at school and at home.
Create a Meaningful Connection
Children participate in the heart-and-stuffing experience as they prepare their Reading Pals for adoption.
Celebrate the
Reading Journey
Children officially adopt their Reading Pals during the Honorable Judge Bear Adoption Ceremony.
Continue Reading Beyond the School Day
Children take home their Reading Pal, storybook, and Read, Pick & Play activity cards, giving families a simple way to read, talk, and practice together.
The Cuddle and Read Literacy Experience Package
Reading Pal Adoption Package: Every child receives their own Reading Pal, heart-and-stuffing experience, adoption ceremony, and adoption certificate.
Little Learning Bus Literacy Activity: An age-appropriate welcome activity designed to encourage participation.
Interactive Storybook Experience: Every child participates in the featured story and receives a storybook to take home.
Read, Pick & Play Activity Cards: Take-home cards that encourage children and families to read, talk, and practice together.
Teacher Reading Pal Package: One participating teacher from each classroom receives a Reading Pal package and joins the adoption experience.
Digital Reading Tracker: Provided to the school to support continued reading at home.
One Year of Complimentary Reading Practice Resources: Age-appropriate activities for teachers to share with families.
